First Day at School Essay For Children

The most important day of a persons education is the first day of school, not graduation day.

My family was extremely excited the day I had to go to school for the first time. My bag was packed with great careI was three years old and I still remember the day I first went to school. A tiny face in grey and white uniform carrying a bag on the shoulders and crying because I didnt want to leave home and make friend outside My Mom and Dad accompanied me to that very strange world.

When I stepped out of the car, I saw a big silver coloured gate through which hundreds of little children went in, some were not very happyhugging their mothers and cry ing not willing to leave their parents My Mom kissed me and said “This is your school, go and make friends and enjoy “Both Mom and Dad held my hands which were cold because I was very nervous. I was feeling insecure in such a strange environment.

I was companionlessI hated the thought of being away from home for so many hours. Tears rolled down my cheeks as I entered the school. I had to bid goodbye to my parents I knew nothing, I was just a small child but all I could see around me was warmth, love and care of teacherswho held my hand and let me in. I, had no notion whatsoever about what lay ahead It was a novel experience for meI could not understand the chaos and confusion which was going on around me The teachers looked like angels to me who had come to help meAfter

a while I along with a group of other kids were taken to a classroom The classroom looked like a Mickey Mouse room but I felt myself as a non living thing in that room My heart was beating a little faster, my anticipation was building up Sitting on a blue coloured chair and tableI felt that I was no one.

Our teachers gave us sweets and tried to make us comfortable. Everyone was either quiet or crying as each tiny tot was a stranger for every other kid. I still remember a little girl with a high pony and many curls and a ribbon flashing round it like the flag of a very proud country who sat next to me was also feeling scared.

We looked at each other and smiled Together we laughed when the teacher told us jokes. Slowly the fear faded awayImade a friend on the very first day and that girl is still a very close friend of mine Children were having their own space .

On the first day I found someone looking at me with a compassionate smile and instilling in me the power of self belief. This was my teacher. The credit for instilling in me all the great values doesnt go to any particular teacher but all the teachers who were there to help me at every stage of life and who have an altruistic behav iour towards every child.

The teachers could sense our fear and tried to cheer us up by draw ing our attention to the toys and the playground where the Swings were inviting us to come and play, Our teachers taught us songs and told us stories.

They took the place of our mothers in the school. Irealised that school was not that bad. The schools have beenlabelled as Second Home ‘ but I prefer calling it our home rather than first second or the third home. The moment I stepped

into this institution, gradually all my fear van ished. And as I progressed from kinder garden to the higher standards, each year was a new chapter in my life. I was taught the ABC and the XYC of life. Days passed and I had many friends. Months passed and then years with all my dear friends and special teachers who taught me not just subjects but lessons for life.

The scared face of the pre-nursery class has now turned into a confident face ofa 7th class student and that stu dent is no one else but me Today as I walk down the corridors, I feel the eerie silence piercing my ears.

As I peek into the empty classroomsI suddenly remember all the previous years when I sat in these rooms No matter how much we complain about the rules and regulations of our school, yet I have learnt that all these rules make us who we are andlead us to where we areI cant get these days back but I love to cherish all those memoriestears trickle down my eyes in the same way as they did when it was my first day at school.

The anxiety ofbeing in school along with the ex- citement of making new friends- all these made my first day at school most memorable and never again have Iexperienced such a mixture of strange feelings
